Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at 865-340-5244 if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Hard Knox Dumpsters in Knoxville, TN rents two sizes: a 15-yard ($320 cash / $340 card, up to 4,000 lbs) and a 20-yard ($420 cash / $440 card, up to 5,000 lbs). Both come with delivery, pickup, and 7 days to fill it — flat rate anywhere within 20 miles of our North Knoxville lot. That's the whole menu. We don't do the 10/30/40 lineup the national chains push. Two sizes cover just about every job we see.

The 15-yard dumpster from Hard Knox is 12 feet long and 8 feet wide — it fits a standard two-car driveway without blocking the garage. It handles garage cleanouts, single-room renos, most landscaping hauls, and it's the only size we send out for roof tear-offs. The 20-yard runs 16 feet and takes more volume, so it's the call for whole-house cleanouts and bigger renovation jobs. Honestly? When people are stuck between the two, the 15 is usually enough. It holds more than you think.

Hard Knox serves Knoxville and 19 surrounding communities across Knox, Blount, Anderson, Loudon, Jefferson, and Sevier counties — including Powell, Farragut, Maryville, Clinton, Oak Ridge, Alcoa, Lenoir City, Halls, Corryton, Mascot, Hardin Valley, Karns, Strawberry Plains, New Market, Louisville, Rockford, Norris, Lake City, and Seymour. Flat-rate pricing holds anywhere inside our 20-mile radius. Farther out? We deliver up to 40 miles — there's a per-mile charge past the 20-mile line, and we'll quote you the exact price before you book. Call and tell us where you are. Dumpster rental includes 7 calendar days.

Yes — when the schedule allows. Hard Knox delivers same-day in Knoxville and across Knox County, and morning calls have the best shot. Here's how it really works: if we can fit you in, we'll give you a delivery window — between 1 and 3, say — because landfill lines, fuel stops, and traffic conditions make exact times a promise nobody can keep. And if today's full, we'll tell you that straight and get you one first thing tomorrow morning.

Additional rentals within 30 days have a $10 discount.  Yes. Cash or money order saves you $20: the 15-yard is $320 cash versus $340 on a card, and the 20-yard is $420 versus $440. That gap is just the card processing fee — we're not marking anything up. Everything else about the rental is the same either way.

Every Hard Knox dumpster rental in Knoxville includes 7 calendar days — that's the standard window on both the 15- and 20-yard. Most projects wrap well inside a week, but if yours doesn't, that's what extensions are for. Yes — Hard Knox extends any rental up to 7 additional days at $20 per day. No new contract, no paperwork. Just call before your scheduled pickup date and tell us how much longer you need it. Past that second week, we need the container back in rotation — but if you're mid-project, call, and we'll figure out the right move, whether that's a swap or a fresh rental.

Hard Knox takes $10 off the price of each additional dumpster you rent within 30 days of your first dumpster. Swapping out a full container mid-project or running two at once on a bigger job — either way, the discount applies. Just mention your earlier rental when you call.

  • Refrigerators and freezers
  • Propane tanks or other pressurized tanks
  • Fluorescent lights and light ballast
  • Dirt loads

Pretty much everything else — furniture, drywall, general junk, yard debris, renovation waste — loads fine. Not sure about a specific item? Call before you toss it in, and we'll give you a straight answer.

Yes. The 15-yard is limited to 4,000 lbs and the 20-yard to 5,000 lbs. Go over, and the overage is prorated at $80 per ton — so if you're 1,000 lbs (half a ton) over, that's a $40 invoice, not some mystery fee. Overloading the container — trash above the top rails — carries a minimum $75 charge, because we legally can't haul it that way. Neither one is a gotcha; the numbers are printed right here, and we'll remind you at the time of booking. If you think your load is running heavy, call before pickup, and we'll figure it out together.

Not if it's placed right — and careful placement is standard on every Hard Knox residential drop in the Knoxville area. Where damage tends to occur is under heavy loads on hot asphalt or fresh concrete, so if your driveway is stamped, sealed, or newly poured, say so when you call. We carry protective pads on every truck, and we'll set the wheels on them at your request — takes us an extra minute and saves you a repair bill.
